These are usually very complex projects, especially for buildings that need to continue operating normally during the course of the projects. Much planning is necessary to start these projects. NY Electric’s project managers need to coordinate constructions efforts with building managers, engineers, energy service providers, and local regulatory agencies. Foremen and electricians must carefully be chosen based on their area of specialized experience. All measurements and calculations must be verified. Safety issues must be addressed. Sophisticated equipment must be mobilized.

This type of work usually requires power shutdowns, but the shutdowns must be minimized in frequency and duration. Building managers are concerned with shutdowns involving critical mechanical loads. Many building tenants, such as financial institutions and e-commerce businesses, are also very sensitive to power outages. As a result, as part of the planning stage for these projects it is often necessary to find alternate means of temporary power for specific critical loads.
